Sales Commission Calculator

Work out commission earned on a deal, your total pay if you have a base, or the sales needed to hit an income target.

โ€”

"Sales needed" assumes your base is fixed and the full target above it comes from commission at the entered rate; tiers, caps and non-commission base pay will change it.

Commission vs. fixed pay

A pure commission role pays only on sales, so one large deal can cover many small ones. Add a base to see blended total earnings, or flip it around with the target to price the workload you need.

How sales commission works

Commission = Sales amount times commission rate. Common structures: flat percentage, tiered rates (higher percent at higher volumes), or base salary plus commission. Works backwards too: target commission divided by rate equals required sales.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a commission?

Multiply the sale amount by the commission rate. A $1,000 sale at 10% earns $100 in commission.

How much do I need to sell to hit an income target?

Take the part of the target not covered by base pay and divide it by your commission rate. At 10%, $4,000 of target beyond a base needs $40,000 in sales.
